This bear has been designed and created by Canterbury Bears in tribute of the reign of the late Queen Elizabeth II. Her reign began on the 6th February 1952, at the age of 25 years old. Her coronation took place a year later in June 1953 at Westminster Abbey. In 2022 we celebrated 70 years of reign, the first British monarch to reach a Platinum Jubilee. We were deeply saddened by her passing.
The Canterbury Bears Platinum Jubilee Bear is made from a luxurious white mohair with soft ultra-suede pads and paws. She has English hand blown sparkling blue glass eyes to mirror Her Majesty’s own and has a hand embroidered black woollen nose. She is fully jointed with our own hand stamped wooden joints and filled with pure white polyester filling; she also has a bean filled tummy which gives her a lovely tactile feel.
Inspired by the deep purple of the coronation robe, this bear is dressed in a royal purple velvet dress coat and matching hat, replicating Her Majesty’s iconic style. Accessorised with a coordinated feather and pearl affect broach. Her coat is fastened by three deep purple buttons and is fully lined with satin. Emulating the Queen’s own, our bear wears a three-strand pearl affect necklace around her neck. On her paws we have embroidered her Royal cypher and the years 1952-2022 in a platinum toned thread.
This collectable bear is being made in a limited edition of 100, each bear comes in a handmade lilac organza drawstring bag and a numbered certificate.
Due to this bear’s glass eyes it is not recommended as a play item for children under 14.
