FAQ's

What are your bears made of?

Canterbury Bears buy Fabric and accoutrements from all over the World to make their bears. We use fabrics including Mohair and alpaca, cotton and silk, most of our fabric is natural. The jointed bears are made with traditional wooden discs which we make ourselves. Bears are stuffed using cotton fibre, polyester and sometimes steel shot.

Can I buy these bears in the shops?

Yes, you can buy Canterbury Bears in shops, but not all shops stock the full range. Our new limited edition Funky bears are offered specially to our On-line customers. There will be new editions produced specifically for certain retail customers. We will update these retailers on this website as they happen.

Can I put my bear in the washing machine?

As we use wooden discs in all our jointed bears it is not a good idea to put them in the washing machine. They can be surface washed with warm soapy water and blow dried.

How much fabric is needed for a bespoke bear?

Each bespoke bear is totally different and unique. The shapes and sizes vary enormously. If you only have a handkerchief or an old school tie that is sentimental to you we will try and incorporate it into a design!

Are the bears suitable for children?

Yes, Canterbury Bears are safety checked and CE certificated making them safe for children and adults alike.

How long will it take for my bear to be delivered?

Your bear will be delivered in five to seven working days; a faster service is available upon request. For Bespoke bears delivery will depend on Individual requirements.

Do the bears arms and legs move?

All of our Funky and Vintage range and some bespoke are fully jointed. Their arms, legs and head move 360 degrees. If you find that the movement is a little stiff to begin with this is because they are new. Don’t be scared they will not break! Our bears are made to last a lifetime!

Where are your bears made?

Canterbury Bears have always been and will always be hand made in England. In fact all of our bear are made in The Garden of England, which is Kent.

What is the price of a bespoke bear?

Each bespoke bear is specifically designed and hand made to individual requirements and as such prices can vary, please call us for a guide price, bears can start from as little as £25.00.
